E-Learning Course FAQ: Access, Support, and Troubleshooting

This FAQ covers the most common questions for e-learning courses: how to get help or report issues with course content or labs, how long you have access to a course and what happens as that period ends, and how to resolve common course-player problems.

Getting Help and Giving Feedback

I have a question about something in the course content or one of the labs. Where should I ask it?

Course and lab questions are handled on forum.linuxfoundation.org, the official support channel for each e-learning course.

Find the Discussion Forum for your specific course (see "How do I find the right forum for my course?" below), then search to see if your question has already been answered. If not, feel free to start a new thread.

Each forum is monitored regularly by the course maintainer and includes input from other students, making it the best place to get help with lab issues or course content.

I found a typo or error in the course content. How do I report it?

Please post feedback on typos or errata to the relevant Discussion Forum on forum.linuxfoundation.org, the official support channel for each e-learning course.

Find the Discussion Forum for your specific course (see "How do I find the right forum for my course?" below), then search to see if your question has already been answered. If not, feel free to start a new thread.

Posting feedback to the forum — rather than another channel — keeps it consolidated in one place so the course maintainer(s), who review the forum regularly, can triage it and update the content as needed.

How do I find the right Discussion Forum for my e-Learning course?

Discussion Forums on forum.linuxfoundation.org are organized into categories by subject area, so look for the category in the Training Courses section that best matches your course's content.

If you're not sure which one applies, the easiest way to find the right forum is to check the Course Intro chapter (the first chapter of your course) — it includes a direct link to the specific discussion forum for that course.

Course Access and Duration

How long will I have to complete the course?

For paid e-learning courses, you have 12 months from your purchase date to access and complete the course. After 12 months, access to the course will close.

For free e-learning courses, access lasts 90 days, and you can re-enroll if needed. For free Express Learning courses, access lasts 30 days.

Can I pause or delay the start of my course access period?

No. Per the terms of e-learning course purchases, your 12-month access period begins on the date of purchase and cannot be paused or delayed. Access will expire 12 months from your purchase date regardless of how often — or how little — you use the course during that time.

Do I get new versions of an e-learning course, even though I purchased it a while ago?

Yes. Course updates are made available to all currently enrolled students, so you'll always have access to the most up-to-date content, regardless of when you purchased the course.

To make sure you're seeing the latest version, clear your browser cache regularly or use a new incognito/private browsing session — otherwise your browser may show you a cached, older version of the content.

I completed an e-learning course, but now I can't access it. What happened?

Once you mark a course as completed, it moves from the My Learning tab to the Course Completed tab on the training portal (trainingportal.linuxfoundation.org). Log in, go to the Course Completed tab, and click View to continue accessing it.

As long as you're still within 12 months of your purchase or order date, you'll be able to keep viewing the course even after marking it complete.

How do I get offline access or a PDF/text copy of the course?

Offline access isn't supported for e-learning course materials — there's no PDF or text file version available. Courses are accessible online only, for 12 months after purchase (or 90 days for free courses).

Course Player and Technical Issues

My progress isn't tracking correctly in the course, and I can't get to 100%. Is something wrong?

No — the in-course progress marker doesn't factor into course completion and can be disregarded. Reaching 100% progress is not required to complete the course.

The only requirement for completion is passing the course exam at the end of the course.

I'm having issues with the course player and can't view or navigate the course correctly. What should I do?

Clear your browser cache regularly, then relaunch the course. This resolves most course-player issues and ensures you're seeing the most current version of the course content and labs — for example, after a course update has been deployed.

Is Dark Mode available in the course-player for an e-learning course?

No, the course player doesn't currently support Dark Mode. As a workaround, you can use a browser extension such as Dark Reader, which is available for most browsers.
