What is the Exam Checklist?
When you purchase an exam registration, an Exam Checklist is generated for the exam. This checklist can be opened by clicking Start or Resume for the exam from the training portal. The Exam Checklist guides you through steps that must be completed and resources that should be reviewed for exams, including the following:
reviewing system and testing location requirements
confirming the name entered for an exam is correct
scheduling a reservation (required for Certification Exams, but not for SkillCred Exams)
add’l resources to prepare for the exam
taking the exam
Will clicking Start for an exam in the training portal automatically start my exam?
No. Clicking the Start/Resume button for an exam in your training portal will open the Exam Checklist. It does not start or launch an exam session directly.
How do I schedule my exam after clicking Start or Resume?
Scheduling is only required for Certification Exams.
After opening the Exam Checklist, review and complete the items in the Getting Started section first. Once those items are completed, you should see the Schedule button become active in 30 minutes or less. Clicking the Schedule button will take you to PSI’s scheduling site where you can proceed with scheduling.
Why is the Exam Checklist only showing an exam already completed or expired from a previous purchase?
If you purchased an exam that you previously sat for, you can follow the steps below to access or schedule the exam from your new purchase.
Log in to the training portal at trainingportal.linuxfoundation.org.
In My Learning, click Resume on the intended exam to load the Exam Checklist.
If you previously passed the exam and achieved the certification, you will need to switch from My Learning to the Course Completed tab.
Go to the Results section in the checklist and look for the option to activate the exam from your new purchase. Once you've used that option, the training portal will load the Exam Checklist for your new exam eligibility and you can then follow the prompts in the checklist to schedule an exam date, etc.
When can I actually launch or take the exam?
For Certification Exams, look for the Take Exam link to become available in the Exam Checklist up to 30 minutes before and no later than 30 minutes following the scheduled start time for a reservation.
For SkillCred Exams, the Take Exam link will become available once you have completed the preceding steps as required in the Exam Checklist.
Can I use Start or Resume to check system requirements before exam day?
Yes. If you already purchased an exam registration, log in to the training portal, click Start or Resume for the certification, and use the System Requirements link in the Exam Checklist.
What should I do if I do not see a schedule option in the portal?
Click Start or Resume for your exam to get started. This opens the Exam Checklist. You will be prompted to complete the Getting Started items and to wait 30 minutes for the Schedule button to become active. If it has been over 30 minutes and there is no change to the Schedule button, please refresh your web browser or log out and perform a fresh login to the training portal.
Scheduling is only required for Certification Exams. SkillCred Exams do not require scheduling.
The "take exam" link in the portal is not available... How do I start my exam reservation?
Take Exam link in the training portal's Exam Checklist becomes available up to 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of the exam. You should click Take Exam as early as possible.
If the Take Exam link is not yet available in the 30 minute period before the scheduled start time of a reservation, be sure to follow the guidelines outlined in the Taking Exam section of the Candidate Handbook (https://docs.linuxfoundation.org/tc-docs/certification/If-handbook2/) that candidates are required to become familiar with prior to testing. As per those guidelines, you can go directly to https://test-takers.psiexams.com/linux/manage in the event that you are unable to access the Take Exam button or the Exam Checklist in the Linux Foundation Education training portal.
If there is any issue with launching, you must contact the proctoring partner, PSI, within 30 minutes of the scheduled start time.
Once it is 30 minutes past the scheduled start, the Take Exam link is no longer available in the Exam Checklist and launch can no longer be initiated for the reservation.
